Re: 'COHEN IS LIVING THE FANTASY'

Excerpt:

'Beginning last February, Cohen spent seven months preparing and shooting 10th Kingdom. A week after Cohen returned to New York from filming in Europe, NYPD Blue producer David Milch called and offered him a limited-engagement recurring role.

''In a second, I said I would do it,'' Cohen says. ''But the day before I left, I auditioned for (the) JonBenet Ramsey (TV movie). I didn' t really want to audition. I have a kid (4-year-old son Liam), and my mother had just died. So the topic wasn't appealing. But I got the script, and I said, 'Why is this script so good?' ''

He got the role of Thomas, a Boulder, Colo., detective who is obsessed with finding Ramsey's killer, and started working on that project three days after finishing NYPD Blue.'

'...Milch told him there is a possibility his NYPD Blue character will return...'

Re: 'DOMINATING THE FEB. SWEEPS: SCOTT COHEN'

Excerpt:

'Upon his return from Europe, Scott snared the role of Detective Denby on "NYPD BLUE" who becomes involved with Kim Delaney's character (Diane). Their scenes are electrically charged. So much so that according to Scott, Kim has been pushing to have his character return to the series at a later date. "Kim was a dreamboat to work with and 'Blue' is such a high pressured show to work on, but it was a great experience," he fondly recalled.'

Re: 'INTERVIEW WITH RIPPER STAR SCOTT COHEN'

Excerpt:

'Fans of ABC's NYPD Blue have been enjoying Cohen's several-episode arc as disturbingly sleazy Detective Harry Denby.

Q: I have to say your scene with Kim Delaney in the bar on NYPD Blue just made my flesh crawl. What a creepy guy!

A: Yeah, when I read the script, I couldn't believe how long the scene was! Seven pages for one scene in a television show is practically unheard of. Working on NYPD Blue was so great. David Milch is like a TV god. Everyone on the show conveys this sense of feeling proud to be there; the integrity of the actors is quite enormous.

Q: Will we see Detective Denby again on Blue?

A: Don't know yet!'

Re: 'SCOTT SCORES ON NBC, CBS - AND EVEN ABC'

Excerpt:

'The contrast to Cohen's next major project was stark, indeed. "I' m glad I had `NYPD Blues' in between,'' Cohen said. "It helped get me into my cop frame of mind."'

Re: 'CALL HIM MR. FEBRUARY - SCOTT COHEN: THE GUY YOU CAN'T ESCAPE THIS SWEEPS'

Excerpt:

'Q: Uh-huh. Which of the three roles was the most difficult?

A: NYPD Blue, definitely. I get scared of characters who have that much depth to them. I literally stayed in my hotel for a month working on it.'

Re: 'AN ACTOR'S SEASON TO HOWL'

Excerpt:

'Cohen's character on "NYPD Blue" was kind of a bad cop.

During an alcoholic blackout, he lost track of Kirkendall's ex-husband, a drug courier, who later turned up dead.

In his most memorable "Blue" scene, set in a bar, Denby, an alcoholic, tried to get Detective Diane Russell (Kim Delaney), a recovering alcoholic, to drink with him.

When she refused, he insisted that he wouldn't give her information about Kirkendall's troublesome ex-husband unless she kissed him.

Reluctantly, Russell did.

Cohen credits Delaney and director Jeff McCracken for showing great sensitivity during the filming of that difficult scene.

"You're talking about a scene that really kind of delves into the mystery of what it is to be alive as an alcoholic, and it's a horrible place to be," he says.

The actor -- who also played an FBI agent in an episode of the first season of HBO's "Oz" -- says that Delaney has been "pushing" executive producer David Milch to continue the Russell-Denby story line. "David has said that there might be more episodes, but I haven't gotten a phone call to come back," says Cohen, who's "taking a little break," and, among other things, plans to take his 4 1/2-year-old son to amusement parks in Los Angeles. Re: 'TALK ABOUT AN ACTOR BEING WELL NETWORKED'

Excerpt:

'Earlier this month, Cohen began making waves as an alcoholic detective with Kim Delaney in a three-episode story line on ABC's "NYPD Blue" that will conclude tonight. There are rumors that the chemistry between the two actors may get him additional runs on the show. "Scott is extraordinary," says "NYPD Blue" co-creator and executive producer David Milch. "For me, the most interesting kind of actor is one that when you see him, you don't know what's coming. Scott's not predictable. He conveys a kind of moral complication you don't see often. It's very rare that an actor can sustain that kind of ambiguity and still be engaging and be one you want to follow. Usually anyone who reaches that level of performance becomes a villain. Scott walks a very fine line. We haven't seen the last of him on "NYPD Blue."'

Re: 'Brothers Under Arms'

The episode is a 'pick of the day'.

Excerpt:

'Elsewhere, tonight's episode has a distinct 'men, who'd-have-em?' flavour as Don Kirkendall, who's on the run, calls up ex-wife Jill (Andrea Thompson) for a meeting, causing her so much agitation she nearly pops the buttons on one of her size-too-small blouses. Russell (Kim Delaney) runs into that kiss 'n' tell schmuck Denby again, who seems to have the air about him, not of a drunk, but of a love interest in the making.'
